Traps are unsolicited messages sent by an agent to the management stations to report the conditions of the managed node. The following tutorials explain the steps involved in developing simple applications to send and receive the trap messages.

Note: The tutorial examples provided do not include code for checking versions, catching error messages, etc. More comprehensive examples that can be used as command line tools are distributed with this package. These examples include the code for setting more options and parameters, provide error messages, and so on. A separate file named ParseOptions.java is provided to parse the various command line options. |
